Chelsea are bracing for a busy final stretch of the summer transfer window, with several high-profile players expected to depart as the club seeks to balance the books after a summer of heavy spending.

The Blues have already brought in £160 million from outgoings this window — a considerable sum, yet still behind Newcastle United (£244 million) and Aston Villa (£202 million). Last summer, Chelsea set a league record by recouping £314 million from sales, and the club could once again finish as the top sellers in the Premier League.

Defenders facing uncertain futures

Manager Xabi Alonso is working to trim his centre-back options from nine down to five. Trevoh Chalobah has already departed, joining Como in a deal worth up to £30.8 million, with Benoit Badiashile and Axel Disasi also expected to follow.

Napoli have expressed willingness to pay around £20 million for Badiashile — structured as a loan with an option to buy — but Chelsea hold out for £30 million given that he has four years remaining on his contract. Disasi, who spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham, is valued at a minimum of £25 million.

Interest has also emerged around Tosin, though Chelsea's asking price for the former Fulham defender remains undisclosed. Mamadou Sarr, who arrived from partner club Strasbourg last summer, is being lined up for a temporary move.

Malo Gusto has been the subject of considerable speculation, though Chelsea are not actively seeking to sell the France international — and have placed a £75 million price tag on him.

Striker surplus drives potential exits

The arrival of veteran forward Danny Welbeck from Brighton has created an overcrowded attack at Stamford Bridge, putting Nicolas Jackson, Liam Delap, and Marc Guiu in the shop window.

Jackson spent last season on loan at Bayern Munich and has attracted interest from Aston Villa, among others. Chelsea are seeking £65 million for the striker, though any deal with Villa carries complications: UEFA regulations on player exchanges apply because Morgan Rogers moved from Villa to Chelsea within 45 days of the window closing, meaning a subsequent transfer between the clubs would be classified as a swap deal — an outcome neither club's accountants would welcome.

Delap managed just two goals in his debut Chelsea season after signing from Ipswich for £30 million, yet the club still values him at around £50 million. Everton, who were among the clubs to pursue Delap from Ipswich last summer, retain an interest.

Guiu had his loan spell at Sunderland cut short and is attracting reported interest from clubs in Spain and Italy. Chelsea are looking for approximately £25 million to sanction his departure.

The Enzo Fernandez question

The biggest name circulating in Chelsea's exit speculation is Enzo Fernandez. Barcelona's reported pursuit of Rodri has fuelled talk of Manchester City entering the race for the Argentine midfielder before the window closes.

City are said to be monitoring Fernandez, who also shares a strong working relationship with their manager Enzo Maresca — the pair having worked together previously at Chelsea. However, the club insist they are not trying to sell him. Fernandez has six years left on his contract and Chelsea value him at £120 million — a significant premium on the approximately £107 million they paid Benfica in the January 2023 window.

Fernandez was left out of the team for two matches in April after publicly admitting he would welcome a move to Madrid. He and his agent later apologised for those comments, amid reports that he had been seeking improved contract terms.
