Chibuike Nwaiwu on the Verge of a Fulham Transfer

2 hours ago·1 min

Super Eagles centre-back Chibuike Nwaiwu is on the brink of completing a permanent transfer to Premier League club Fulham, with the two clubs understood to be close to finalising terms.

According to Sky Sport, Fulham have put forward a €27 million offer for the 22-year-old, while his current club Trabzonspor are holding out for €30 million. Despite the gap, a deal is expected to be concluded as early as next week.

Once an agreement is reached, Nwaiwu is set to put pen to paper on a four-year contract with the Cottagers.

From Austria to Turkey — and now England

The Nigerian defender made his move to Trabzonspor in January, arriving from Austrian Bundesliga club Wolfsberger AC. He wasted no time making his mark, quickly becoming a cornerstone of the Turkish side's defensive unit.

In 16 league appearances for the Black Sea Storm, Nwaiwu contributed three goals and one assist — impressive numbers for a centre-back in his debut campaign. He also played a key role in Trabzonspor's Turkish Cup winning run, adding silverware to an already outstanding first half-season.

A move to Fulham would represent a significant step up for the young Nigerian international, bringing him into regular contact with the Premier League's elite forward lines and further raising his profile ahead of future Super Eagles duty.
