Chukwueze Shines but AC Milan Held to 1-1 Draw by Sassuolo

1 hour ago·1 min

Samuel Chukwueze delivered a lively performance for AC Milan on Sunday, yet the Super Eagles winger could not prevent the Rossoneri from dropping points in a 1-1 Serie A stalemate away at Sassuolo's Mapei Stadium.

Making his sixth league outing of the season, Chukwueze — who has contributed two assists in the campaign so far — caused persistent problems with his pace and direct running before being withdrawn for Hutchinson in the 85th minute as Milan chased a winner.

How the goals fell

A goalless first half was disrupted by an enforced change for the visitors when Koni De Winter came on to replace the injured Matteo Gabbia. The match finally came alive after the break.

Adrien Rabiot put Milan ahead in the 63rd minute, finishing with composure after a clever lay-off from substitute Luka Modrić. The lead lasted barely four minutes before Sassuolo levelled.

Defender Cas Odenthal rose to meet a set piece in the 67th minute and beat Mike Maignan to restore parity, sending the home crowd into raptures. From that point on, the home side dug in.

Sassuolo hold firm

Milan introduced Ardon Jashari and Alphadjo Cisse in an effort to find a breakthrough, but Fabio Grosso's Sassuolo side defended resolutely to take a well-earned point and deny the Rossoneri all three.
