Chukwueze Sidelined for Two Months After Hip Injury Blow

AC Milan winger Samuel Chukwueze is facing a layoff of at least two months after picking up a hip injury, dealing a significant blow to the Nigerian international's season.

The 27-year-old reportedly sustained the injury during training ahead of Milan's UEFA Europa League fixture against Bournemouth on Thursday. According to Corriere della Sera, as cited by MilanNews, Chukwueze has already seen a specialist and begun his treatment programme.

A follow-up medical assessment is scheduled for 10 to 15 days' time, though the winger is not expected to return to competitive action before the end of the year.

A difficult spell for Milan's squad

The setback comes at a frustrating time for Chukwueze, who had established himself as a regular in Milan's starting lineup this season following his return from a loan stint at Premier League club Fulham. The former Villarreal forward has contributed two assists in eight appearances across all competitions for the Rossoneri.

With Chukwueze sidelined, Milan are reportedly considering cutting short the loan spell of Zachary Athekame at Lyon to bolster their attacking options.

The hip injury adds further strain to a squad already stretched by long-term absences. Matteo Gabbia and Alexis Saelemaekers are both nursing ongoing fitness concerns, and Chukwueze's setback compounds the depth issues facing the Serie A club.
