Como 1907 Equal 55-Year Record with Stunning 9-1 Rout of RC Lens

Como 1907 have made European football history, hammering RC Lens 9-1 in their UEFA Champions League matchday four fixture on Wednesday to equal a 55-year-old record.
The Italian debutants became the first team to score nine goals away from home in the European Cup since Feyenoord demolished Olympiakos Nicosia 9-0 in 1971 — a staggering feat for a side still finding their feet at the top table of European competition.
A dominant display from first whistle to last
Cesc Fabregas' side were in control from the opening moments, racing into a 3-0 lead by the break. Tasos Douvikas struck twice, in the 7th and 32nd minutes, while Nico Paz added a third before half-time with a stunning effort from a tight angle.
The second half became a rout. Como added six more goals after the restart, leaving Lens with no answer to their relentless attacking play.
Record-breaking Italian campaign
The victory moved Como to nine points from four UEFA Champions League matches, with 19 goals scored in those four games — the highest total ever recorded by an Italian club in their first four appearances in European Cup competition.
Fabregas' men had already turned heads this season, defeating RB Leipzig and beating Manchester United 4-1 in their previous outing before this historic demolition of Lens. For a club making only their second-ever away trip in the competition, the performance was nothing short of extraordinary.
