Coventry City vs Newcastle United: How to Watch, Key Team News, and Match Preview

50 minutes ago·2 min

Coventry City host Newcastle United at the Coventry Building Society Arena on Monday night in a Premier League clash that could shift the momentum for both sides following the international break.

How to watch

Kick-off is at 8:00pm BST / 3:00pm ET / 5:00am AEST (Tuesday). In the UK, Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League carry the match, with coverage beginning at 6:30pm BST. Sky Sports plans start from £35 a month, with existing 24-month Sky TV contract holders able to add Sky Sports for £24 a month. Short-term streaming is available via Now at a comparable cost.

Viewers in the United States can watch on USA Network, which is available through cord-cutting platforms including YouTube TV (21-day free trial), DirecTV Stream (5-day free trial), Hulu+Live TV (3-day free trial), and Sling Blue. In Australia, Stan Sport holds the broadcast rights, with coverage available from 5:00am AEST on Tuesday. Stan Sport has reduced its price for the 2026/27 season from AU$32 to AU$29.99 and will broadcast every Premier League and Champions League fixture throughout the campaign.

Coventry City: renewed confidence, injury concerns

Frank Lampard's side enter this fixture with a much-needed boost after ending a four-match losing streak. Jay Dasilva's second-half strike earned a 1-0 win at Nottingham Forest in their last outing, handing Lampard's team three valuable points and a lift in morale heading into Monday's contest.

However, several injury absences continue to hamper the Sky Blues. Haji Wright is expected to miss the match, with Lampard suggesting the American forward is not due back until late October. Kaine Kesler-Hayden, Josh Eccles, Luke Woolfenden, and Milan van Ewijk are all working their way back to fitness and approaching a return.

Aurele Amenda remains a long-term absentee, while Taiwo Awoniyi serves a suspension after receiving a straight red card for violent conduct during Coventry's 5-0 home defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion last month.

Newcastle United: building on a steady start

Newcastle arrive in the Midlands having collected eight points from their opening five Premier League games — a solid if unspectacular return. Their most recent league win, a 2-1 victory over Hull, came off the back of a 4-1 hammering at Leeds United, meaning questions about their consistency remain.

The Magpies could welcome back Nico Gonzalez, who sat out the Hull match after suffering a concussion and was subject to concussion protocols. Joelinton is also edging closer to a return after a thigh problem kept the Brazilian out of action so far this season, and reports indicate he could feature in the trip to Coventry.

Prediction

Despite their high-profile summer departures, Newcastle showed enough resilience against Hull to suggest they are a threat on the road. Coventry, meanwhile, remain a work in progress under Lampard. Expect the Magpies to take this one — FourFourTwo predicts a 2-0 away win, with Newcastle scoring in each half.
