Crystal Palace have agreed a deal in principle with Pierre Sage to take charge as their new head coach, with the club now finalising a compensation agreement with RC Lens.

The Frenchman is set to put pen to paper on a three-year contract running until the summer of 2029, with the option to extend by a further year.

Sage rose to the top of Crystal Palace's shortlist after Andoni Iraola was appointed head coach of Liverpool, ending the Eagles' pursuit of their primary target. Crystal Palace had identified Iraola as their first choice to succeed Oliver Glasner before Liverpool moved decisively to secure him.

The deal now hinges on the two clubs agreeing a compensation package for Sage's departure from RC Lens.
