Crystal Palace claimed a dramatic 3-2 victory at Craven Cottage on Saturday, coming from behind twice to defeat Fulham and hand manager Pierre Sage his first Premier League win as Eagles head coach.

Tyrick Mitchell was the hero for Palace, netting twice in a pulsating London derby that left Fulham boss Alvaro Arbeloa without a point after three matches — a miserable start to life as a Premier League manager.

Fulham strike first

It was Fulham who drew first blood. Josh King broke the deadlock in the 11th minute, capitalising on Oscar Bobb's driving run to the byline and a fortunate deflection off Jaydee Canvot that left Dean Henderson with no chance.

Crystal Palace had what they believed was a swift equaliser shortly after, only for a VAR review to rule out Daichi Kamada's finish from Yeremy Pino's cross — a tight but damaging call for the visitors.

Mitchell levels twice

Palace refused to fold. In the 35th minute, Eddie Nketiah released Mitchell down the left channel, and the full-back drilled a powerful effort past Bernd Leno at his near post to make it 1-1.

Fulham hit back just before the break. Carlos Palacios restored the home side's advantage in the 42nd minute after King's clever dummy on Richards created the opening, and Palacios was on hand to smash home following Henderson's denial of Gonzalo Garcia.

The second half began with Henderson again at the centre of the action — though for the wrong reasons. Mitchell's 54th-minute shot appeared weak, yet Garcia failed to clear it, and the Palace defender bundled the ball over the line to level again at 2-2.

Chilwell seals the comeback

The decisive moment arrived in the 77th minute. Leno appeared to bring down substitute Khalaili inside the area, and Ben Chilwell stepped up to stroke the penalty into the empty net, completing a stunning three-point swing for Sage's side.

Despite carrying an xG of 3.13 and the impressive King standing out once again, Fulham could not convert their dominance into points. The defeat means the Cottagers have now lost their opening three top-flight fixtures for just the third time in their history — a record that brought relegation in both 1951/52 and 2020/21.

For Sage, the comeback win — secured in front of jubilant Palace fans in the away end — will provide enormous relief. For Arbeloa, the questions are only growing louder.
