Afrobeats superstar Davido and his long-time manager Asa Asika are co-owners of Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Inter Lagos, Asika has confirmed.

Speaking on the Manager's Playbook podcast, Asika offered a candid look at the business ventures he and Davido have built beyond the music world.

"We [Davido and I] own a football team in Nigeria together. We just got promoted to the Premier League. It is called Inter Lagos," Asika told the show.

From lower leagues to the top flight

Inter Lagos earned their place in the NPFL after winning promotion from the Nigeria National League (NNL), stepping up to the country's elite top-flight competition.

The transition has not been without difficulty. Inter Lagos currently sit 19th in the NPFL standings, having collected four points from their first six matches of the season — a start that underlines the gap between the lower leagues and Nigeria's top division.

A long-term project

Asika framed the club as part of a wider business strategy that encompasses music, sports, and lifestyle. He was clear that Inter Lagos is not a vanity project or a quick investment — it is a long-term venture built to grow sustainably.

The manager drew a direct parallel to how he and Davido approached their music careers, building steadily and patiently rather than chasing immediate results. That same philosophy, he indicated, now guides their ambitions in football.
