Roberto De Zerbi has declared Tottenham Hotspur's 2-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge the finest performance his side have produced since he took charge — and insists the result carries extra weight because of the rivalry between the two clubs.

The Tottenham manager was full of praise for his players after they shut out their west London neighbours in a commanding derby display, with the scoreline flattering neither side when it came to Spurs' dominance on the night.

A statement result at Stamford Bridge

Winning at Stamford Bridge is never straightforward, and doing so by a two-goal margin against a Chelsea side competing in the Premier League makes the achievement all the more significant for De Zerbi's Tottenham.

For De Zerbi, the occasion amplified everything. A derby victory on the road, with a clean sheet and a convincing scoreline, gave him the platform to reflect on just how far his team have come since his appointment.

"The best since I arrived at the club," was how he summed up the display — a short but telling assessment from a manager who has set high standards at Hotspur Way.

Spurs build momentum

The result continues what has been a promising period for Tottenham Hotspur under De Zerbi's stewardship. Beating Chelsea in their own backyard not only boosts morale but sends a message to the rest of the Premier League that Spurs are capable of performing when it matters most.

The derby bragging rights belong to north London for now, and De Zerbi will be hoping his squad can carry that confidence forward into their next challenge.
