Derek McInnes Set to Take Charge at Rangers on Three-Year Deal

2 hours ago·1 min

Rangers have agreed a deal in principle with Derek McInnes to become the club's new head coach, with final details still being finalised before he officially puts pen to paper on a three-year contract at Ibrox.

McInnes arrives as a replacement for Danny Röhl, who has agreed terms to join RB Salzburg. The German tactician's departure leaves a vacancy that the former Rangers midfielder is set to fill.

Club chairman Andrew Cavenagh and CEO Jim Gillespie acted without delay — conducting negotiations from the United States — to secure McInnes's signature swiftly after Röhl's exit became clear.

McInnes had been in charge at Hearts, whom he guided to a second-place finish in the Scottish Premiership last season. Despite that impressive campaign, he is now poised to return to Ibrox, the stadium where he played as part of the Rangers squad during his playing career.
