Nigerian striker Rafiu Durosinmi has completed a permanent transfer to Belgian Pro League club KRC Genk, signing a four-year contract after leaving Italian side Pisa.

Onuachu's influence

Durosinmi credited former Genk striker Paul Onuachu with playing a decisive role in his decision to move to the Cegeka Arena. The two players spoke at length about the club, with Onuachu painting a positive picture of life at Genk.

"I spoke with Paul about the club. He told me many great things about Genk, the supporters, and the way the club works with players," Durosinmi told the club's official website. "I am proud to be a Genkie."

The Nigeria international also set out his ambitions from the outset. "I want to be important for the team from day one, score goals, and give everything in every match," he added.

A proven scorer arriving from Czech football

Before his spell at Pisa, Durosinmi made a significant mark in the Czech First Division with Viktoria Plzen, registering 35 goals and ten assists in 86 appearances across all competitions — a record that drew attention from clubs across Europe.

He becomes KRC Genk's second signing of the summer transfer window.

Head of Football Dimitri de Condé welcomed the arrival with enthusiasm, outlining exactly why the club pursued Durosinmi.

"Rafiu is a striker with qualities that align well with the way KRC Genk wants to play," de Condé said. "He is good in the box and also strong on the ball in combination play. A typical number 9 to whom you can pass the ball. We were also looking for a profile that can make an immediate impact and that fits within our ambition to compete at the top again. Rafiu meets those requirements."
