Enyimba assistant coach Okechukwu Ejeh has struck a defiant tone ahead of Sunday's Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 6 clash with Kano Pillars, insisting the People's Elephant are travelling to Kano for points — not pleasantries.

"We are not here for a tea party; we are here for serious business. We are here to get the three points," Ejeh told the club's media. "We are mentally ready, physically ready, and tactically ready for this game. Believe me, we are optimistic that we are not leaving this ancient city empty-handed."

A season-defining trip to Kano

The Sani Abacha Stadium hosts the fixture, and the stakes could hardly be higher for the Aba-based club. Emmanuel Deutsch's side has lost all four of their league outings so far this season, leaving Enyimba rooted to the foot of the NPFL table. The nine-time champions do have a game in hand over some rivals, but the pressure to convert that advantage into points is mounting.

Despite the grim run of results, Ejeh kept the mood in the camp buoyant, pointing to the squad's preparation as the foundation for a turnaround.

Continental ambitions still alive

Ejeh was equally resolute when the conversation turned to the broader picture. The coach made clear that Enyimba's season target — securing a continental berth — has not shifted regardless of their troubled start.

"Our vision remains to play on the continent. We are not too worried about our position for now. We will get the continental ticket," he said.
