Elliot Anderson has declared himself eager to pull on the Manchester City shirt after completing a £116 million move from Nottingham Forest — one of the most expensive transfers in the club's history.

The 23-year-old England international described City as a club built for winning, and said the consistency the side has shown over the past decade made the transfer an easy decision.

"I can't wait to play for this club. It's a club built to win trophies and compete at the very top of the game. That is exciting for any footballer," Anderson told the club's official website.

Anderson was equally effusive about the culture within the squad, citing the relentless mentality he hopes to bring his own energy to.

"I think they're winners, they're relentless, and that's the sort of team I want to be a part of. Over the last 10, 12 years, they've dominated, so that's why I wanted to join."

Eyes on the Manchester derby

The midfielder wasted no time in turning his attention to City's Premier League clash with arch-rivals Manchester United, scheduled for September 13 at Old Trafford.

"It's one of the biggest derbies in the world and for as long as I've known Manchester, City have been the kings of Manchester. It'll be a great fixture and I can't wait to be involved in something like that."

Anderson also reflected on where he sees himself in his development, insisting there is still plenty of room for growth despite the size of the fee that brought him to the club.

"I'm only 23, so I've got plenty of time to get to my best levels. I'm definitely not there yet and there's more to come from me."

The former Nottingham Forest man outlined what supporters can expect from him once the Premier League season gets under way, promising a mix of technical quality and raw physicality.

"I think I bring a bit of everything. I bring quality, I bring physicality, energy. I'd like to think I'd get the fans excited, get them off their feet and bring energy to the team."
