Everton Sign Arsenal Midfielder Norgaard in £7m Deal

1 hour ago·1 min

Everton have completed the signing of Denmark international Christian Norgaard from Arsenal on a two-year contract, with the 32-year-old reportedly moving to Goodison Park for £7 million.

Norgaard arrived at Arsenal last summer in a £15 million deal from Brentford, but featured only seven times in the Premier League last season — despite the north London club clinching their first league title in 22 years. He managed 20 appearances in all competitions before losing his place in the squad, and was absent from Arsenal's friendly against Real Betis on Wednesday.

Toffees bolster their midfield

The signing continues a busy summer of recruitment for manager David Moyes, who has brought in several players to reshape his squad. Everton also secured central midfielder Hayden Hackney from Middlesbrough for £16.5 million, while winger Tyrique George — who impressed on loan at the club during the second half of last season — joined permanently from Chelsea for £18 million.

Moyes has been seeking experienced reinforcements following the departures of long-serving players Seamus Coleman, 37, and Idrissa Gueye, 36. Midfielder James Garner, 25, adds further pressure on Moyes to cover the engine room, as Garner is expected to miss the start of the season after undergoing groin surgery last month.

Norgaard's background

Before joining Arsenal, Norgaard spent six years at Brentford, where he established himself as a cornerstone of the team — captaining the side and making 196 appearances for the Bees.

Everton begin their Premier League campaign against Crystal Palace at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday, 22 August.
