FIFA's Elite Technical Study Group Set to Decode the Secrets of World Cup 2026

6 days ago·1 min

With the FIFA World Cup 2026™ just weeks away, FIFA has assembled one of the most experienced analytical panels in the tournament's history to break down every moment of the action — in real time, for fans across the globe.

The FIFA Technical Study Group (TSG), led by FIFA Senior Football Expert Pascal Zuberbühler and guided by FIFA Chief of Global Football Development Arsène Wenger, will scrutinise all 104 matches across 48 nations competing at 16 venues in Canada, Mexico and the United States. The tournament kicks off on 11 June 2026 at Mexico City Stadium.

A panel of world-class football minds

The TSG brings together a diverse group of former players and coaches: Otto Addo (Ghana), Tobin Heath (USA), Jürgen Klinsmann (Germany), Jayne Ludlow (Wales), Michael O'Neill (Northern Ireland), Gilberto Silva (Brazil), Jon Dahl Tomasson (Denmark), Paulo Wanchope (Costa Rica), Aron Winter (Netherlands), and Pablo Zabaleta (Argentina).

Former Switzerland goalkeeper Zuberbühler — who made history at Germany 2006 as the only goalkeeper eliminated from a FIFA World Cup without conceding a single goal — says the expanded 48-team format has raised his excitement levels considerably.
