Fiorentina in Loan Talks with Manchester United for Joshua Zirkzee

Fiorentina are in discussions with Manchester United over a temporary move for Dutch forward Joshua Zirkzee, with both clubs seeking to agree terms on a loan deal before the transfer window closes on 1 September.
The proposed arrangement would see Zirkzee join the Serie A club on loan until the end of the season, with an option for Fiorentina to make the transfer permanent next summer. Zirkzee himself is reported to be open to the switch.
While an agreement is not yet close, there is optimism on both sides that a deal can be reached ahead of the deadline. The 25-year-old still has three years left on his contract at Old Trafford.
A difficult spell at United
Zirkzee arrived at Manchester United from Bologna for £36.5 million in 2024, having claimed Serie A's Under-23 Player of the Season award for 2023–24. He announced himself at Old Trafford in style, scoring on debut in a 1-0 victory over Fulham.
However, establishing himself as a consistent starter proved elusive. Across two seasons with the club, he made just 27 starts from 75 appearances — and managed only five Premier League starts in 2025–26. In total, he has scored nine goals in all competitions for United.
With his place in the first team far from assured, a move to Italy offers Zirkzee a fresh opportunity to rediscover his best form ahead of what could be a defining summer for his career.
