Bassey currently has one year remaining on his deal at Craven Cottage, though Fulham hold an option to extend that arrangement by a further year — keeping him in west London until the summer of 2028. Despite that safety net, the club are now pushing for a more comprehensive long-term agreement.

Bassey has grown into one of the most reliable defenders in the Premier League since joining Fulham from Ajax in July 2023. His performances over the 2024/25 season were so impressive that he claimed the club's Player of the Season award — a recognition that underlines just how central he has become to the Cottagers' plans.

The versatile Nigeria international has now made 105 appearances for Fulham across all competitions, a figure that speaks to both his consistency and his value in manager Álvaro Arbeloa's squad.

Bassey has started all three of Fulham's Premier League matches under Arbeloa this season, confirming his status as a cornerstone of the backline.
