Gabriel Jesus Completes £8.6m Move to Barcelona on Deadline Day

1 hour ago·1 min

Gabriel Jesus has sealed a transfer to Barcelona from Arsenal, with the Brazilian forward leaving the Spotify Camp Nou on a deal worth £8.6m (€10m) that runs until June 2029.

The 29-year-old spent four years at Arsenal after arriving from Manchester City in a £45m deal in 2022, going on to score 32 goals in 123 appearances for the club. Despite that record, Jesus managed only three Premier League starts last season as injuries continued to hamper his progress.

A knee injury sustained in a January 2025 FA Cup tie against Manchester United sidelined him for the majority of that campaign, severely limiting his influence at the Emirates.

Alvarez pursuit unaffected

Barcelona's move for Jesus is not expected to alter the club's long-standing interest in Julian Alvarez. Sky Sports News understands the two deals are entirely separate matters, and the signing of Jesus does not close the door on further activity.

Jesus had drawn interest from Napoli before ultimately choosing a move to Spain, where he joins Barcelona on a three-year contract.

International picture

At international level, Jesus has earned 64 caps for Brazil but has been absent from the Selecao squad since November 2023. His Barcelona move could yet reignite his prospects of a national team recall.

Arsenal also sell Vieira

Arsenal confirmed a second departure on Deadline Day, with Fabio Vieira joining Hamburg in a deal worth £7.7m. The Portuguese midfielder originally arrived at Arsenal from Porto in June 2022 in a deal worth up to £34m.
