Germany Fan Cycles 26,000 km to Houston for the World Cup
A devoted Germany supporter has completed one of football's most extraordinary pre-tournament journeys, cycling more than 26,000 km to reach Houston, Texas, ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The fan set off on the gruelling ride months before the tournament's kick-off, crossing continents and enduring thousands of kilometres of open road to arrive in the United States in time to cheer on his national side.
Houston is one of the host cities for the 2026 World Cup, which is being staged across the United States, Canada, and Mexico — the first edition of the competition to feature 48 nations.
The feat is a testament to the lengths that passionate football supporters will go to follow their team on the global stage. Germany, one of the tournament's perennial contenders, will be hoping that kind of dedication translates into noise and atmosphere inside the stadiums.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup marks a landmark moment for the sport, with a record number of competing nations and matches spread across North America's biggest venues.
