Germany Lose Karl to Thigh Injury Ahead of World Cup

1 hour ago·1 min

Germany have been dealt a blow ahead of the 2026 World Cup after forward Lennart Karl was ruled out with a thigh injury sustained in training.

The 18-year-old Bayern Munich attacker picked up the problem during his side's final training session before a warm-up match against World Cup co-hosts United States. Karl had featured in Germany's 4-0 friendly victory over Finland on Sunday, contributing an assist, but will now play no further part in the tournament.

Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann expressed his sympathy for the teenager after the setback.
