Getafe Make Formal Offer to Sign Free Agent Jadon Sancho

Getafe have submitted a formal offer to bring Jadon Sancho to the Spanish club, as the former Manchester United winger searches for a new home after his contract expired in the summer.
The 26-year-old remains a free agent, and while an agreement is understood to be complicated, the La Liga side — currently 14th in the table and competing in the UEFA Europa Conference League — are determined to secure a deal.
Sancho is said to prefer leaving England for a move abroad but has kept all options open. The versatile attacker cost Manchester United £73 million when he arrived from Borussia Dortmund in 2021, but his time at Old Trafford never reached the heights that fee demanded.
Loan spells and a costly Chelsea exit
During his five years at Manchester United, Sancho spent time away on loan — first returning to Borussia Dortmund, then moving to Chelsea in the 2024-25 season. That spell at Stamford Bridge included an obligation to buy, yet Chelsea elected to pay a £5 million penalty to send him back to Old Trafford after 41 appearances rather than make the move permanent.
Last season, Sancho joined Aston Villa on loan, making 39 appearances under manager Unai Emery. He played a role as Villa achieved UEFA Champions League qualification and Europa League success, coming on as a substitute in the victory over Freiburg — his third European final appearance in three successive seasons.
Staying sharp without a club
With no club to report to, Sancho has been sharing training footage on his Instagram account to demonstrate his fitness. He also visited non-league side Flixton, who were quick to clarify that the former England international was not on trial with the North West Counties club.
Getafe's pursuit of Sancho comes days after the club completed the signing of former Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal on a free transfer. The 34-year-old right-back, who won 27 trophies with Real Madrid — including six UEFA Champions League titles — had been without a club since his contract at the Bernabeu expired in June, and has now signed with Getafe until June 2027.
