Gibbs-White Fitness Race Against Time for Forest Ahead of Arsenal Visit

Nottingham Forest are monitoring the fitness of Morgan Gibbs-White ahead of Sunday's Premier League encounter with Arsenal, with the midfielder yet to return to full training following a calf problem.

Gibbs-White sustained the injury during last weekend's defeat at Crystal Palace and has been absent from squad sessions throughout the week. Manager Oliver Glasner confirmed the England international is a doubt for the high-profile fixture but expressed cautious optimism about his chances of featuring.

"Morgan Gibbs-White is a doubt, he couldn't train the entire week with us. But it looks like he can join tomorrow's session. He had an individual session today with our rehab coaches, and he suffered a minor muscle injury at Palace. Then we have to see how he reacts today and how he deals with tomorrow's session, and then how we take the final decision," Glasner said.

The Austrian manager indicated that Gibbs-White is expected to train with the group on Saturday, with a final assessment to follow before Forest face the reigning champions.

Milenkovic also in contention

Forest received a boost on another front, with defender Nikola Milenkovic returning to training after missing several weeks with a bone bruise.

"Milenkovic trained for the first time today. Let's see now how he reacts. He could be in the matchday squad, but let's see, because he's now out for several weeks," Glasner added.

The Serbian centre-back's return provides Glasner with welcome options at the back, though like Gibbs-White, his involvement on Sunday will depend on how he responds to his first session back.

Forest will need to be at full strength if they are to trouble an Arsenal side currently among the title contenders in the Premier League.
