Kelechi Iheanacho is on the verge of signing a new two-year deal with Scottish Premiership champions Celtic, extending his stay at the club beyond his initial one-year arrangement.
The Nigeria international arrived at Celtic on a free transfer and delivered a strong debut season, netting important goals against Kilmarnock, Dundee, Hibernian, and Motherwell — despite battling through a series of injuries that disrupted his campaign.
His original contract included a club option to extend his stay by a further 12 months. Now, reports indicate the 29-year-old forward is prepared to commit his long-term future to Celtic, dismissing interest from clubs in Qatar and Turkey.
O'Neill wants swift resolution
Celtic manager Martin O'Neill has publicly confirmed the club's desire to retain Iheanacho and is pushing to conclude an agreement without delay.
