Former Nigeria international Victor Ikpeba has declared that George Ilenikhena and Moses Usor should have started for the Super Eagles in their damaging 3-0 defeat to Guinea-Bissau in a 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Tuesday.

Nigeria's performance was poor throughout — Franculino Djú gave the Djurtus the lead before half-time, Mama Baldé extended the advantage after the break, and Álvaro Djaló completed the rout deep in stoppage time. Eric Chelle's side never threatened to turn the tide.

Ikpeba's verdict on the selection

Speaking on SuperSport following the result, Ikpeba was direct in his assessment of the coach's team selection, questioning why younger, more combative options were left on the bench.
