Infantino Faces Resignation Calls After Undisclosed £1.3m Payment Exposed

1 hour ago·1 min

FIFA president Gianni Infantino is facing intensifying calls to resign after financial documents revealed he received an undisclosed payment of £1.3m in 2024 — on top of his officially reported salary.

FIFA has committed to publishing Infantino's full compensation package in its annual report every year since 2016. For 2024, the report listed his earnings at £3.88m ($5.1m). However, US tax filings show he also received £1.3m ($1.76m) from FWC2026 — the company established to organise and run this summer's FIFA World Cup 2026 — a payment that was never disclosed publicly by FIFA.

Article 43, paragraph 13 of FIFA's statutes states that the individual compensation of the FIFA president, council members, and the secretary general must be made public. Critics argue the undisclosed FWC2026 payment is a clear breach of that obligation.
