The Football Federation Islamic Republic of Iran (FFIRI) has accused FIFA of abruptly revoking its official ticket allocation for the 2026 World Cup, just days before the tournament kicks off in the United States.
Under the standard allocation framework, the FFIRI was entitled to 8 percent of tickets for each of Iran's three group-stage fixtures. That entitlement, the federation says, was pulled without adequate notice or explanation.
Federation condemns the decision as discriminatory
In an official statement, the FFIRI described the revocation as discriminatory and a direct violation of the equality principles that underpin international sport. The federation argued the move appeared driven by political rather than sporting considerations.
