ITV Reveals Broadcast Team for Mexico vs South Africa at World Cup 2026

3 hours ago·1 min

ITV has confirmed its full on-screen team for the opening fixture of World Cup 2026, with Mexico hosting South Africa at the iconic Estadio Azteca — a repeat of the tournament's opening match from 16 years ago.

Lead presenter Mark Pougatch will front the coverage from ITV's US base, with kick-off scheduled for 8pm UK time.

A star-studded studio panel

Gary Neville, Roy Keane, and Ian Wright — all associated with the popular series The Overlap — will provide studio analysis for the occasion. The trio bring considerable experience to ITV's biggest night of football.

Neville represented England at two World Cups, featuring in the 1998 and 2006 editions, having missed the 2002 tournament in Japan and South Korea through injury. It was during that 2002 tournament that his broadcasting career first took shape, when he appeared as a pundit on ITV.

Keane last experienced a World Cup as a player during the 1994 edition in the United States with the Republic of Ireland. His participation in the 2002 tournament was cut short by the infamous Saipan incident before the competition even began.

Wright, one of England's most celebrated strikers, never had the opportunity to represent his country at a major international tournament during his playing career.

Commentary duo

Jon Champion and Ally McCoist will be on commentary duty for the match. McCoist will also be looking ahead to Scotland's own fixtures later in the tournament.
