Iwobi Fires Fulham to First Premier League Win of the Season
Alex Iwobi delivered when it mattered most, striking in the 33rd minute to hand Fulham a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Hull City — the club's first Premier League win of the season.
The goal, which proved to be the only one of the afternoon, lifted Fulham to 15th place in the table with five points. Before Saturday's match, the west London side had gone six games without a win, drawing two and losing four.
Two other Nigerian internationals featured in the contest. Calvin Bassey wore the captain's armband for Fulham, while Semi Ajayi lined up for Hull City in the losing effort.
Manchester City move clear
At the Etihad Stadium, Manchester City put their UEFA Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain firmly behind them, edging past Brentford 3-2 to move onto 21 points.
The result temporarily sends City six points clear of reigning champions Arsenal, who face Nottingham Forest on Sunday.
Liverpool come from behind
Elsewhere in the Premier League, Liverpool recovered from going a goal down to defeat a ten-man Brentford side 2-1 away from home, adding further pressure on the teams below them in the standings.
