James Milner Retires After Record-Breaking 24-Year Premier League Career

5 days ago·1 min

James Milner, one of English football's most enduring figures, has confirmed his retirement after a Premier League career spanning 24 years. The former England international, who turned 40 this year, departed Brighton at the end of his contract following three seasons at the club.

The midfielder etched his name into the history books in February, surpassing the record for the most Premier League appearances ever made by a single player — a milestone that underlines just how remarkable his longevity proved to be.

Milner began his professional journey with Leeds and went on to represent six top-flight clubs in total. Along the way, he collected three Premier League titles: two with Manchester City and one with Liverpool. His time at Liverpool also produced a UEFA Champions League winner's medal in 2019, cementing his place among the most decorated English players of his generation.
