Julián Álvarez has rediscovered his LaLiga scoring touch at just the right moment, netting the only goal as Atlético Madrid defeated Deportivo 1-0 to move to within two points of league leaders Barcelona.
The strike ended an eight-month wait for Álvarez in LaLiga — a drought that had stretched across the better part of the season. His return to form in front of goal could prove decisive as the title race enters its most critical stretch.
Atlético Madrid's narrow victory keeps the pressure firmly on Barcelona, who now see their advantage at the top of the table reduced to just two points with the season heading toward its conclusion.
