Juventus Eye Martinez and Vicario as Goalkeeper Search Intensifies

4 days ago·2 min

Juventus are pursuing a new goalkeeper ahead of the summer transfer window, with Aston Villa's Emi Martinez and Tottenham's Guglielmo Vicario both emerging as targets for the Italian club, according to Sky in Italy.

The Turin giants had initially set their sights on Liverpool's Alisson, but those hopes were swiftly extinguished after Liverpool made clear their intention to retain the Brazilian. Juventus have now shifted their attention to alternatives.

Martinez fits the profile

Sky in Italy report that Martinez has the temperament and personality Juventus are looking for in their next goalkeeper. The Argentine, 33, helped Aston Villa clinch the UEFA Europa League last month, capping a successful spell at Villa Park.

Martinez attracted interest from Manchester United the previous summer but remained at Villa, where he still has three years left on his contract. Whether Aston Villa would entertain selling him this time around remains an open question.

Vicario also in the frame

Tottenham's Vicario has also been the subject of speculation over his future throughout the past season, with Inter Milan among the clubs to have registered interest. The Italian goalkeeper missed the final weeks of the campaign through injury, and Antonin Kinsky impressed during his absence between the posts at Spurs.

Kolo Muani talks under way

Separately, Juventus are in discussions with Paris Saint-Germain over a second loan spell for striker Randal Kolo Muani, Sky in Italy report. The France international spent the second half of the 2024-25 season on loan at Juventus before joining Tottenham on a season-long loan — a move that came only after a permanent return to Turin fell through last summer.

Kolo Muani's campaign at Tottenham was disappointing, and he was omitted from France's World Cup squad as a result. Despite an initial gap in valuation between the clubs, an agreement is believed to be within reach.
