Kompany Hospitalised After Collapsing at Bayern Munich Training Ground

Vincent Kompany was rushed to hospital on Friday after collapsing at Bayern Munich's training ground, with the club confirming his condition is stable.
The incident occurred while Kompany was observing a training session for FC Bayern's amateur side. "Vincent Kompany had to seek medical treatment on Friday after collapsing during training for FC Bayern's amateurs," the club said in an official statement. "The first-team coach had been watching the second team's session. Kompany will undergo thorough examination in the hospital and remain in medical care. For the time being, his coaching staff will manage training and match operations."
Recent illness in the background
Kompany had already been battling a viral infection in the days prior, which forced him to miss Bayern's pre-match press conference ahead of their UEFA Champions League fixture against Arsenal at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday.
Despite his illness, the Belgian manager recovered sufficiently to take his position in the dugout for that match — a 2-2 draw against the Gunners that kept both clubs level on the night.
With Kompany now under medical supervision, his backroom staff are set to take charge of Bayern's preparations for Sunday's Bundesliga encounter against Freiburg.
