Kvaratskhelia to Undergo Surgery After Rupturing ACL in PSG's Win Over Barcelona

Paris Saint-Germain winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will require surgery after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during his side's 4-2 Champions League victory over Barcelona at Parc des Princes on Tuesday.
The 25-year-old sustained the knee injury following a challenge with Xavi Espart and left the field in the 59th minute, unable to bear weight on his right leg. PSG have offered no indication of when he might return to action.
A significant blow for the champions
Kvaratskhelia joined PSG from Napoli in January 2025 and has been a key contributor to the club's back-to-back Champions League title wins. He had made 11 appearances for the Parisian side this season before suffering this setback.
The Georgia international's absence is a major concern for PSG, who are in imperious form. Barcelona and the hosts were deadlocked at 2-2 going into the final ten minutes, before PSG struck twice late on to seal a commanding 4-2 victory and maintain their perfect start to their title defence.
PSG sit top of the Champions League table with three wins from their opening three matches.
Further injury concerns at Parc des Princes
Kvaratskhelia's ACL rupture was not the only injury worry to emerge from Tuesday's match. The club confirmed that Ousmane Dembélé and Marquinhos will also be sidelined for a few weeks. Dembélé hobbled off after sustaining a left thigh injury, while Marquinhos was similarly affected in his right thigh.
The trio of injuries will test PSG's squad depth as they look to defend their Champions League crown across what promises to be a demanding campaign.
