Kyle Walker Braces for Tattoo Removal If Manchester City Titles Are Stripped

1 hour ago·2 min

Kyle Walker has revealed he may have to remove a tattoo from his leg if Manchester City are stripped of their Premier League titles — a scenario he is hoping to avoid.

The former City right-back, who joined the club from Tottenham Hotspur in 2017 and departed for Burnley in the summer of 2025, had a 'Four in a Row' tattoo etched onto his leg to mark four consecutive league titles won between 2020/21 and 2023/24.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Walker addressed the prospect of those titles being taken away. "I'm probably going to have to do that bit!" he said, as reported by the Express. "I'll try and keep it on, but hopefully we don't get things taken away."

City's legal battle

Manchester City were found guilty of 114 serious breaches of Premier League rules by an independent commission, covering conduct during the period between 2009 and 2018. The club are currently appealing the verdict, and no sanctions have yet been determined.

The potential punishments available to the Premier League are wide-ranging — transfer bans, points deductions, registration restrictions, and even expulsion from the competition are all under consideration. However, the stripping of titles won after 2018 is considered highly unlikely, given that the investigation's scope was limited to the 2009–2018 window.

Walker won the Premier League six times under manager Pep Guardiola at City, including back-to-back titles in 2017/18 and 2018/19, and the four consecutive crowns beginning in 2020/21. Only the first of those six league titles falls squarely within the investigated period.

Walker's personal reflection

Now at Burnley, Walker was candid about the awkward position the ongoing case places former and current City players in. "It's the big elephant in the room we're probably all going to be asked when doing interviews or whatever," he said.

"It doesn't look great. Let's not hide from the fact they've been found guilty but they're going through an appeal. As a player all I can say is all we did is go out and play our best as a team."

Beyond his league medals, Walker's time at City brought considerable further success. He was part of the treble-winning squad in 2022/23, lifting the UEFA Champions League, the Premier League, and the FA Cup in the same season. He also claimed the FA Cup once more and won the League Cup three additional times — all achievements that fall outside the period under scrutiny.

With Manchester City currently sitting at the top of the Premier League table under Enzo Maresca, and the appeal still ongoing, the question of punishments continues to loom over the club.
