Lagos Set to Host CAF Awards Ceremony on December 7

4 hours ago·1 min

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially confirmed that the 2026 CAF Awards will take place in Lagos, Nigeria, on Monday, 7 December.

The glittering ceremony is set to be held at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts — formerly known as the National Theatre — located in the Iganmu district of Lagos.

This edition marks the fourth time Lagos has hosted the continent's most prestigious football honours, with the Nigerian commercial capital having previously welcomed the event in 2008, 2013, and 2014.

General assembly also confirmed for Nigeria

Alongside the awards, Nigeria is also scheduled to host the CAF Ordinary General Assembly on Saturday, 21 November, forming part of CAF's official calendar of activities for 2026.

Both dates were ratified following a virtual meeting of the CAF Executive Committee, chaired by President Dr Patrice Motsepe, on Friday, 2 October 2026.

A celebration of African football's finest

The annual awards ceremony draws together leading figures from across African football — players, coaches, and administrators — as CAF recognises individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the development of the sport on the continent.

With both events now locked in, organisers are expected to accelerate preparations for the November General Assembly before the spotlight turns fully to Lagos for the CAF Awards on 7 December.
