Lazio Move to Tie Down Dele-Bashiru with New Contract

2 hours ago·1 min

Lazio are preparing to offer Super Eagles midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru a new contract, with the Serie A club eager to secure his long-term future at the Stadio Olimpico, according to Corriere dello Sport.

The 25-year-old has become an important figure at Lazio since arriving from Turkish outfit Hatayspor in 2024, despite enduring injury disruptions during his time in Rome. He still has two years left on his existing deal, but the club are pushing to extend that commitment further.

Return from injury

Dele-Bashiru missed time this season after picking up a hamstring injury on the opening day — a Serie A fixture against Bologna. He made his return to competitive football last weekend, coming off the bench to play 30 minutes as Lazio beat Monza 3-1.

The Nigerian international has previously attracted interest from Premier League clubs, making Lazio's desire to tie him down all the more significant.

Wider squad planning

Dele-Bashiru is not the only player whose future Lazio are reviewing. The club are also in discussions over new deals for Danish winger Gustav Isaksen and Italian midfielder Nicolò Rovella, as manager Marco Baroni looks to build a settled core within the squad.

Lazio's next assignment is a demanding one — they travel to face Juventus in a Serie A clash on Sunday.
