Leeds Chairman Marathe Backs Farke for Long-Term Future at Elland Road

Leeds United chairman Paraag Marathe has declared his desire for manager Daniel Farke to remain at Elland Road well beyond the current season, telling Sky Sports he hopes the German stays "much beyond this year."
Farke has been at the helm since July 2023 and delivered a 14th-place finish as Leeds returned to the Premier League in the 2025/26 campaign — a season that secured the club's top-flight status. The 49-year-old's contract runs until the summer of 2027.
Marathe's message to Farke
Speaking exclusively to Sky Sports, Marathe spoke warmly of the relationship he has built with the manager and insisted the club's ambitions are fully aligned with Farke's own.
"Neither one of us is jumping off that train; I hope Daniel is here this year and beyond and we just need to keep this going. My hope and expectation is that he's here much beyond this year."
Marathe also pointed to the three-year framework established when Farke first arrived, saying both parties had stayed true to the original plan. "What we set up three years ago when he first joined us in terms of how we wanted to go forward, we've lived that, exactly what we said we were going to do," he said.
When asked directly whether he wanted Farke to remain, Marathe's answer was unequivocal: "Yes."
Contract talks kept private
Pressed on whether formal extension negotiations had begun, the chairman declined to go into detail but left no doubt about the club's intentions. "I will keep those confidential, but absolutely I want him here this year and beyond. I think everyone at the club does," he told Sky Sports.
The comments come after Farke himself raised uncertainty in May, suggesting he had accomplished the task he set out to do and hinting he might not be the right fit if ownership's plans fell short of his ambitions. Marathe's remarks appear designed to put those concerns to rest.
Leeds United, who finished 14th in their first Premier League season back, will be looking to build on that platform when the next campaign gets underway.
