Linus Zika Joins Sparta Prague from Sporting Lagos in Landmark Transfer

Czech First League side Sparta Prague have completed the signing of Nigerian midfielder Linus Zika, with the player making the move from Nigeria National League club Sporting Lagos.
Sporting Lagos confirmed the deal on their official website, describing it as a milestone for their youth-development philosophy. The club noted that Zika is a product of their academy system, having risen through the ranks before earning a place in the first team ahead of the 2025/26 Nigeria National League season.
"We are delighted to announce the transfer of academy graduate Linus Zika to 14-time Czech champions Sparta Prague," the club stated.
Before his departure, Zika represented Sporting Lagos at the 2025 Gothia Cup and made seven appearances in the NNL last season — contributions that played a part in the club securing promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League.
Sporting Lagos framed the transfer as proof of concept for their youth-first approach, positioning the club as a launching pad for talented young Nigerians to break into European football.
"This move highlights progress in our youth-first policy, establishing us as a pathway club for young players to earn big moves abroad," the club's statement read.
Zika will initially join Sparta Prague's reserve team, training under manager Luboš Loučka as he adapts to European football. The transfer marks the beginning of what the club hopes will be a defining chapter in the midfielder's career at one of Czech football's most decorated clubs.
