Liverpool Agree Personal Terms with PSG Teenager Ibrahim Mbaye as Barcola Move Stalls

Liverpool have struck a personal terms agreement with Paris Saint-Germain youngster Ibrahim Mbaye, even as their pursuit of fellow PSG attacker Bradley Barcola continues to stall, according to a report from RMC Sport.

The Merseysiders have spent much of the summer chasing Barcola, and FourFourTwo understands a contract has already been agreed with the French winger on a personal level. However, PSG's reluctance to accept a fee north of €100 million has led Liverpool to open a parallel track — one that now includes a five-year deal with Mbaye.

A Senegalese teenager in Liverpool's sights

Mbaye, a Senegalese teenager valued at around €30 million by Transfermarkt, made three league and cup appearances for PSG last season, operating primarily as a backup option behind the club's established front three of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Désiré Doué, and Ousmane Dembélé.

That frontline contributed 52 goals across all competitions in 2024–25, with Barcola adding 13 and Mbaye a modest three. Despite those numbers, Barcola featured more than any other PSG attacker across Ligue 1, the Coupe de France, and the Champions League — though manager Luis Enrique largely reserved his most trusted trio for the biggest occasions.

FourFourTwo understands that both Barcola and Mbaye are eager for moves to the Premier League, drawn by the clearer pathway to regular football under Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola — and the prospect of more consistent minutes than Paris could offer.

A busy summer at Anfield

Liverpool's transfer window has been eventful. The club lost Mohamed Salah — one of the most decorated players in their modern history — and have so far responded by signing Spanish winger Victor Munoz. The potential additions of Barcola and Mbaye would represent a significant investment in the wide areas.

PSG, meanwhile, have reshaped their attack this summer, parting ways with Gonçalo Ramos — who has joined Rúben Amorim's Milan — before moving to acquire World Cup finalist Ferran Torres and Ajax prospect Mika Godts.

With the transfer window nearing its close, Liverpool now face the possibility of landing both a marquee winger and a developing talent from the same club — though the Barcola deal remains far from certain. The Reds open their Premier League campaign against Newcastle United.
