Liverpool Draw Tottenham in EFL Cup Third Round

1 hour ago·2 min

Liverpool will face Tottenham Hotspur in the third round of the Carabao Cup, with the draw confirmed as the nine Premier League clubs competing in Europe enter the competition at this stage.

The nine European clubs — Arsenal, Aston Villa, Bournemouth, Brighton, Crystal Palace, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Sunderland — all bypass the opening two rounds to enter in the third round.

Matches will be scheduled across the weeks beginning Monday, 7 September and Monday, 14 September, a move designed to avoid fixture conflicts with the opening rounds of the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League.

The rest of the draw

Manchester United will face Premier League rivals Brighton, while holders Manchester City host Norwich. Sunderland take on Hull, and Ipswich welcome Arsenal. Coventry face Aston Villa, and Bournemouth host Lincoln.

Leeds United could face Chelsea depending on Thursday's result, with Chelsea hosting Luton (19:30 BST). The winner of that tie meets Leeds. Elsewhere, West Ham host either Fulham or AFC Wimbledon, with Fulham taking on AFC Wimbledon at 20:00 BST to decide the final place.

Fleetwood, the only fourth-tier club remaining in the competition, host Championship side Sheffield United. Millwall face Newcastle United, Everton take on Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Brentford travel to Reading.
