Liverpool have made an opening approach to Monaco over winger Maghnes Akliouche, with the Merseyside club checking on the 24-year-old France international's availability.

The move places Liverpool alongside Paris Saint-Germain in the race for the Monaco wide man. PSG have made multiple bids for Akliouche, but Monaco have rejected every offer so far — including their most recent proposal, which is understood to be in the region of £34m (€40m).

A target at club and international level

Akliouche featured in France's World Cup campaign this summer, coming off the bench during Les Bleus' 6-4 defeat to England in the third-place play-off.

Versatile enough to operate on the right wing or as an attacking midfielder, Akliouche delivered a productive 2024-25 Ligue 1 season for Monaco, registering six goals and six assists across 31 appearances.

Monaco's reluctance to accept PSG's advances signals the club's determination to hold out for a fee that reflects their valuation of the player — a stance that may shape Liverpool's next move in negotiations.
