Liverpool claimed a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Brentford in the Premier League, but the win has not silenced all concerns about the Reds' defensive vulnerabilities.

Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy, analysing the match for Match of the Day, argued that despite collecting three points, Liverpool continue to make life too comfortable for their opponents. Murphy's assessment suggests that the manner of the performance raises questions that go beyond the scoreline.

Brentford made Liverpool work throughout the contest, exposing the kind of gaps and inconsistencies that have drawn scrutiny from pundits this season. The 2-1 result, while welcome for Arne Slot's side, could not mask the structural issues Murphy identified in his breakdown.

The victory keeps Liverpool in contention at the top of the Premier League table, but if Murphy's critique holds weight, the Reds will need to address their defensive shape before facing tougher tests ahead.
