Livramento Ruled Out of World Cup 2026 as Chalobah Steps In

England's preparations for FIFA World Cup 2026 have been disrupted after Tino Livramento was ruled out of the tournament with a hamstring injury, with Trevoh Chalobah called up from the stand-by list to take his place.

The Newcastle United right-back, 23, had only recently returned from a five-week absence caused by a thigh problem sustained late in the club season. Despite recovering in time to earn a place in the squad, a fresh injury — picked up in training away from public view — has ended his tournament before it began.

Although the injury is not considered severe, England's medical and coaching staff concluded that Livramento would be unable to contribute at any stage of the competition. Chelsea defender Chalobah has now been officially drafted into the squad as his replacement.

England open their Group L campaign against Croatia on Wednesday, with kick-off coverage available on the Sky Sports app from 7pm.
