Ademola Lookman delivered a crucial assist as Atletico Madrid and VfB Stuttgart shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw on Tuesday in the UEFA Champions League, while Paris Saint-Germain handed Barcelona their first loss of the season with a commanding 4-2 triumph at the Parc des Princes.

Lookman sparks Atletico's comeback

Stuttgart took the lead through Jamie Leweling in the 36th minute, but Atletico Madrid responded immediately after half-time. Lookman, introduced from the bench as a substitute for Jonathan David, provided the assist for Julian Alvarez to level the tie in the 47th minute.

The game shifted further in Atletico's favour when Stuttgart were reduced to ten men following Morten Hjulmand's red card in the 64th minute, though Diego Simeone's side were unable to press home their advantage and settle for a point.

The assist is Lookman's second direct contribution of the UEFA Champions League campaign, with the Nigerian winger now registering one goal and one assist across three appearances for Atletico this season.

PSG dismantle Barcelona in Parisian thriller

Across Paris, the evening's standout contest saw defending champions Paris Saint-Germain dismantle Barcelona in a five-goal spectacle at the Parc des Princes. Désiré Doué and Lucas Hernandez found the net for PSG, while Xavi Espart and Lamine Yamal replied for the Blaugrana to keep the match on a knife's edge heading into the closing stages.

However, Vitinha and Fabián Ruiz struck in the latter stages to ensure all three points stayed in the French capital, handing Barcelona a first defeat of the 2024-25 campaign and sending a statement of intent across Europe.
