Lukaku Urges Calm as Belgium Stall in FIFA World Cup 2026 Group Stage

1 hour ago·1 min

Romelu Lukaku has voiced his frustration after Belgium were held to a second consecutive draw at the FIFA World Cup 2026, failing to register a win in Group G.

Rudi Garcia's side could not find a way past a stubborn Iran defence on Sunday, settling for a goalless stalemate at Los Angeles Stadium. It followed an earlier 1-1 draw with Egypt in their tournament opener — leaving Belgium without a victory heading into their decisive final group fixture.

Dominated but denied

Despite controlling possession for nearly 70 percent of the match and mustering 23 attempts on goal, Belgium were repeatedly frustrated by an organised Iranian backline. The sheer volume of chances made the result all the more difficult to accept.

Lukaku calls for composure

Speaking to FIFA after the match, Lukaku acknowledged that his side must sharpen their mental approach going forward.
