Manchester City chief executive Ferran Soriano has delivered a defiant message to fellow club executives across Europe, insisting the club will fight the Premier League charges for which they were found guilty, BBC Sport has learned.

Soriano made the remarks at a board meeting of European Football Clubs — formerly known as the ECA — held in Copenhagen, ahead of the organisation's general assembly on Tuesday.

Vowing to fight on

Sources indicate Soriano declared that the process still has a long way to run and that City have no intention of backing down. His stance echoes the public position taken by club chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak, who conveyed a similar message of defiance in a letter addressed to supporters on Saturday.

The Premier League charges relate to a case that has drawn widespread attention across European football, with Manchester City contesting both the findings and the process itself.
