Man City's Financial Rule-Breaking: How Much Did Your Club Lose?

Manchester City stand guilty of inflating their sponsorship income by £830 million — plus a further £90 million in expenses — across the nine seasons between 2009 and 2018. City continue to appeal the verdict, but as the findings stand, the consequences for every other Premier League club during that era are staggering.
BBC Sport has modelled the financial impact across four categories: Premier League prize money, relegation costs, missed UEFA Champions League earnings, and domestic cup competitions. The combined potential loss to 35 other top-flight clubs is estimated at £799.5 million.
The full scale of the damage
The breakdown reads as follows: £188.2 million in lost Premier League place money, £349.7 million in relegation-related costs, £217.8 million in missed Champions League prize money, and £43.8 million tied to domestic cup competitions. Meanwhile, City themselves collected £1.17 billion across all competitions during the same window — £812.3 million from Premier League broadcast revenues and prize money, and £363.4 million from the Champions League alone.
