Man City Threaten Legal Action Over Real Madrid Candidate's Haaland Pledge

Manchester City are weighing legal action against a Real Madrid presidential candidate after he publicly pledged to sign Erling Haaland — a claim City have flatly denied.

What Riquelme said

Enrique Riquelme, who faces incumbent president Florentino Perez in Sunday's election, appeared on Spanish television programme El Hormiguero on Wednesday night and declared that Haaland holds a release clause and wishes to join Real Madrid. He produced a Real shirt bearing the name and number 'Haaland 9' to underline the point.

Riquelme, who also named Haaland's City team-mate Rodri as a target, added:
