Manchester United are leading the race to sign Roma and France midfielder Manu Kone, 25, but Arsenal are mounting a serious challenge for his signature, according to L'Equipe.

Arsenal are not limiting their ambitions to Kone. The Gunners have renewed their interest in Athletic Club winger Nico Williams, the 23-year-old who featured prominently in Spain's World Cup-winning campaign. Williams is understood to carry a £77 million release clause, a fee that could test even the most determined suitors.

West Ham have knocked back a second approach from Roma for Dutch forward Crysencio Summerville, 24. Roma's opening bid stood at 46 million euros (£39 million), and the Italian side are now preparing what is expected to be a final offer.

Aston Villa have also entered the picture for Summerville, with the club understood to be exploring a move as they seek a replacement for Morgan Rogers, 23, who is set to join Chelsea.

Ferran Torres faces Barcelona exit talks

Barcelona have arranged a meeting with forward Ferran Torres, 26, to assess his future at the club. Torres, who scored the winning goal for Spain against Argentina in the World Cup final, has just 12 months remaining on his contract, and Paris St-Germain are among those monitoring the situation.

Ipswich close in on Issa Diop

Ipswich Town have reached an agreement to sign Morocco centre-back Issa Diop from Fulham for approximately 10 million euros (£8.5 million). The 29-year-old becomes one of the more experienced defensive additions in this window, giving Ipswich a commanding presence at the back.

Franculino Dju attracting Premier League attention

Newcastle United and Leeds United are among the English clubs assessing a potential move for FC Midtjylland striker Franculino Dju, 22. The Guinea-Bissau international has caught the eye in Denmark, with Midtjylland holding out for more than £21 million.

AC Milan target Karetsas but face Leao dilemma

AC Milan have identified Genk winger Konstantinos Karetsas, 18, as a priority transfer target this summer. However, the Italian giants may be forced to sell Portugal forward Rafael Leao, 27, to generate the funds required to complete the deal.
